Check the contents of your dietary supplements for harmful substances:

Bitter Orange, bigarade orange, bitter lemon, Seville orange, Citrus Aurantium, marmelade orange, (many different names)) contains adrenergic protoalkaloid called Synephrine.

Synephrine (C9 H13 NO2) (in diet products, synephrine-p) acts on the A1 adrenergic receptor to constrict blood vessels and increase blood pressure and heart rate.

There are six different isomers of synephrine (synephrine-m, synephrine-p, synephrine-o (and for each a dextro or levo form)

Your average dietary supplement that contains Synephrine usually contains both synephrine-m and synephrine-p, the distinction between these two are important as they have different pharmacologic properties both these isomers may have different safety issues to public health but the effect of the isomers are similar.

Synephrine (in your diet product) can (among others) cause:

Stroke
A stroke is the rapidly developing loss of brain function due to disturbance in the blood supply to the brain. This can be due to ischemia caused by thrombosis or embolism or due to a hemorrhage...

Angina
Angina pectoris, commonly known as angina, is severe chest pain due to ischemia of the heart muscle, generally due to obstruction or spasm of the coronary arteries . Coronary artery disease, the main cause of angina, is due to atherosclerosis of the cardiac arteries...

Ischemic colitis
Ischemic colitis is a medical condition in which inflammation and injury of the large intestine result from inadequate blood supply. Although uncommon in the general population, ischemic colitis occurs with greater frequency in the elderly, and is the most common form of bowel ischemia...

ETC...

synephrine-m (also known as phenylephrine) inhibit histamine production and is used in allergy medications or remedies that intend to treat breathing challenges.

synephrine-p inreases blood pressure and there has been a chemical product available in the USA since 1927 called Oxedrine which is used as a vasoconstrictor.

Various stereoisomers of both synephrine-m and synephrine-p apparently produce various effects ranging from mood altering to sensitivity to light and many other effects.

Quite obviously synephrine products should be scheduled 3 plus (and not supplied over the counter) until further studies are concluded - AND DEFINITELY NOT FALSELY MARKETED AS A FOOD SUPPLEMENT...
